Dear Parents and Guardians,

In the fall of 2009, the School Advisory Board was formed. Each of the three pastors appointed three members in addition to the H.S.A. president and the principal. The members will serve one, two or three year terms. Ellen Ayoub, the superintendent of Schools for the Metuchen diocese presided over the initial meeting. Her role was to define the purpose and responsibilities of the board. Her presentation included the background for establishing the council. She explained the function of the board as one of advisory in nature, making recommendations of facility needs, finances and resources. The council will work to provide endowments, grants, and corporate sponsorships that can be a resource for tuition assistance, growth needs and parish subsidy. The council will also assist with the annual school budget.
In the spring the council and myself will begin the process of writing a strategic plan for the next three years. We will call together a focus group that will examine and gather data on Catholic Identity, Curriculum, Technology, enrollment, development, facilities, staffing, finances and governance.
The purpose of this group is to give the School Advisory Council an in depth view of the school from a broad range of participants.
After all data is collected, committees will be established to review comments and begin the writing process.
Many of the schools in the diocese have completed this process and have found it to be exceptionally helpful in directing the work that will ensure stability and growth.
Please consider being a part of the initial focus group. This meeting will last about two hours and has been tentatively set for April 22 from 7 to 9 pm. Further information will follow.
During the Lenten season, Monday thru Thursday, 1 class attends the 8:15 Mass in the chapel. I have received so many compliments about the student's respectful and prayerful manner. The seventh grade will be preparing a Stations of the Cross prayer service for Holy Thursday. Students are donating to a fund for a needy family.
Holy Family Academy is blessed to have the most dedicated and professional faculty and staff that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Our teachers are committed to the belief that every child needs to feel success. Each day as I visit classrooms, I am gratified to see the depth of instruction and the variety of approaches they use to ensure this success.
Re-registration information was sent home on January 27. Please return your forms as soon as possible so that we can begin planning for next year. If you need additional forms, please let me know.

May your Lenten journey bring you closer to our Lord.
                                                      Sincerely,
                                                    Judith A. Clayton
